NEIGHBOUR MEDIATION

Neighbour disputes can be time consuming for organisations such as the police and council departments to investigate. By dealing with conflicts in a positive, efficient way in the early stages, we aim to alleviate the work of those organisations and improve the well-being of the people and communities involved. Mediation is an important tool in tackling neighbourhood disharmony and anti-social behaviour.

Mediation is a fast and confidential service and is versatile and can be effective for most types of neighbour issues such as noise, parking, boundaries, animals, behaviour of children and anti-social behaviour.

WORKPLACE MEDIATION

Unresolved conflict in the workplace can have considerable impact on organisations. It can result in wasted time, absenteeism, reduced productivity and performance, poor customer service, increased staff turnover, general low morale and negative employer reputation.

Mediation can help address matters at the heart of the issues and deliver recognised benefits such as improved employee relationships and increased efficiency.  Mediation can reduce stress in the workplace, levels of sickness absence and time and costs associated with using more formal processes.

SCHOOLS MEDIATION

Conflict in schools can occur between parents, teachers, staff members, and governors in any combination.

Mediation can be used to help avoid lengthy, expensive, and time-consuming investigative processes, to repair relationships following an investigative outcome, to promote a healthy working environment, or to establish mutually agreeable terms for service delivery.

Where disagreement occurs over a child's educational provision, mediation can settle the issues and ensure there is better communication to deal with any future issues.

COMPLAINTS MEDIATION

Complaints about service delivery can be addressed via mediation. The collaborative process allows the service user and organisation to explore each other’s viewpoint, be heard, and then identify what is required to adequately resolve the complaint and establish possible future service improvements.

If there is to be an ongoing customer relationship, mediators will help to develop and preserve effective communication between those involved.

FAQ

The Answers You Need

WHAT IS MEDIATION?

Mediation is a confidential conflict resolution process that allows people to resolve concerns on their own terms.  Mediators don't investigate, take sides, judge anyone for what has happened or tell them what to do next.  Instead, mediators help parties to explore each other's perspectives, to make sense of what has happened and how they have been affected. Through better understanding of each other, mediators help people reach mutually acceptable outcomes.  Agreements are only generated if the parties are genuinely happy with them, so adherence to them is more likely.

WHAT DOES MEDIATION INVOLVE?

Upon receiving a mediation referral, a mediator will initially contact the parties to make introductions and arrange a time for their initial individual meetings. At that meeting, the mediator will work with each party to prepare them for mediation.  A joint mediation session or shuttle mediation will then be arranged.  Usually, one three-four hour session is adequate for the joint meeting but a second may be scheduled if necessary.  The mediators will summarise the agreements or points of understanding in writing for the parties, where appropriate.  A post-mediation monitoring period of two months will be offered where telephone and email support will be available to those involved.

In workplace and schools mediation, the person referring the case may be required to assist with coordinating the meetings.

WHY CHOOSE TALKING RESOLUTIONS AS YOUR MEDIATION PROVIDER?

All of our mediators appreciate that everyone's experience of conflict is different and therefore each case requires a tailored approach.  The team is not just versed in mediation but holds experience in a variety of other helping professions.  Talking Resolutions mediators have years of experience and draw on a variety of approaches to deliver a service that is highly customer-focused.  We offer full support to individuals, including coaching, throughout the preparatory, mediation, and monitoring stages.

WHAT DOES MEDIATION COST?

Please contact us and we will assess your requirements to provide an upfront cost.

HOW LONG DOES MEDIATION TAKE?

This will depend on the type and complexity of a case and the availability of everyone involved.  We aim to arrange all meetings as quickly as possible and offer our first available dates. The case will remain open for around two months on average while we monitor the outcomes and agreements.

HOW CAN I MAKE A REFERRAL TO MEDIATION?

IS THERE A CANCELLATION POLICY?

Yes.  Where mediation meetings are cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, the full agreed fee will still apply and a further cost will be incurred for rebooking the case.

IF I REFER A CASE TO MEDIATION, WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?

We will acknowledge receipt of your referral, and if necessary contact you if we need to query anything on the form. If the case is workplace or school-based, we may ask for your help in coordinating the meetings.

Due to the confidential nature of mediation, we will be unable to disclose the content of the discussions, unless everyone agrees that information can be passed on.  You will receive updates to let you know when the different stages of mediation are complete.  If we begin to have problems contacting the parties we may ask for your help.

You will receive feedback on the level of success achieved, based on the opinions of the mediation parties.

You can contact us at any time for an update regarding the status of your referral.

Please see our terms and conditions for further information.
